Phoktey Dara (Lat : 27.25044744870278, Long : 88.03068283012036) trek is the famous trek of West Sikkim, situated at the height of 3734 meters.

The Phoktey Dara trek gives one of the best views of the Sleeping Buddha formation, which is formed by Mount Kanchenjunga and 16 other popular peakes aligned in such a way that it appears like a giant Lord Buddha sleeping over the clouds. The Phoktey Dara trek also provides the rare opportunity to view 4 of Worlds highest 8000 meter peaks together in a single frame. The peaks are Mt. Everest, Mt. Kanchenjunga, Mt. Lhotse and Mt. Kanchenjunga which are top 5 highest mountains of the World except for K2, which lies in the Karakoram range.

Mostly we will cover the trek route like from Uttarey we will go to Guraseydara. From Guraseydara we will proceed towardsTirpaidara–Kalizar Valley.

Detailed itinerary:

Day 1: Arrival and transfer to Uttarey

Aftter reaching to any of these placesNJP/Bagdogra/Gangtok/Darjeeling we will proceed to Uttarey (2,320m) which is 5-hrs drive. En-route evergreen forests, the sizzling floating of Tista River, rural villages of Sikkim, lush hills and mountain clades view.Here overnight stay at Uttarey.

Day 2: Trek Day : Hageypani Trek

Next day is trek day . Wake up early , freshen up , energized yourself with morning tea and breakfast. Then we will start the trek from Uttarey to Hageypani (2,630 m) which is ~ 5 hrs trek. En-route dense magnolia forests, wild orchid species and can take a sight of the magnificent Mt. Kanchenjunga and Kumbakarna. Night stay with nature in camp.

Day 3: Trek Day : Kalizar Sabnam valley Trek

Today we mark the 3rd day of our trip. After having breakfast we will start from Hageypani to Kalizar Sabnam valley (4,870 m) which is 5hrs trek. En-route enters the tropical alpine forest with an opportunity to live with the exotic beauty of lushy red Rhododendron forests and also provide an un-finishing scene of the unparalleled series of mountains. Enjoy campfire and overnight stay at nature camping.

Day 4: Exploring Phoktey Dara

So this is the D day we are waiting for .Halt at Kalizar Sabnam valley to explore Phoktey Dara, a true paradise on earth makes us feel lucky with the amazing view of sunrise and sunset, the unexplained peeping out and hiding of the huge ball of fire ‘Sun’ in the great mountains. Standing on the ridge of Phoktey Dara, you can experience the chilly cold winds from all directions which prove that the place is totally covered with snow – capped mountains. With a mirror view of the Mt. Kanchenjunga on the Northern face; the highest place on earth, the majestic Mt. Everest can be faced by your eyes on the western side; the serailed view of the Pahnauri range and Chola group of mountains on the eastern side; not only the three directions are indulged with providing a projector view of mountains but also the southern direction provides the over lapping of one mountain over the other, seems as if its rolling downwards. This fascinating scene from Phoktey Dara tells itself the superior one; dominating the others like Phalut, Sandakphu & Chiwabhanzyang. Perhaps the places which provide this word-less view of the exotic nature in this world is rarely present. Over night stay at Kalizhar Sabnam Valley.

Day 5: Trek back to Uttarey

After breakfast ascending trek to Uttarey, which is a 6 hrs of trek. Overnight stay.

Day 6: Departure Day

After breakfast checkout from Uttarey to other destinations. Visit by touring beautiful places of Sikkim and our trip ends here.
